Easy Support Rewewal in Customer Portal

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

We’re happy to tell you about a small update to our customer portal.  Now after you log in you’ll see an option to renew your support and maintenance license right there in the portal itself.  Until now you’ve had to get in touch with us and it’s been a rather manual process on our side.

Renew Tembria Suppor and Maintenance

Renew Tembria Support and Maintenance

Normally this wouldn’t be an issue but our support retention numbers are roughly 3 times the industry standard.  Most software vendors can expect about 20% of their customer base to renew for support and maintenance but at last count we were running 58.6% which of course leads to a whole lot of support renewal requests and explains why we decided to automate the process.

We were pretty surprised when we finally took the time to calculate the above numbers and as a result we’d like to say big thank you to all the dedicated Tembria Server Monitor users out there.

Coming Soon: Multi-Site Monitoring

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Are you providing monitoring services to your customer base or do you have multiple server farms distributed in different areas?

If so, drop us a note at support@tembria.com because we want your feedback.  In a short while we’ll be introducing a distributed, multi-site version of Tembria Server Monitor.  Unlike existing products in this space our solution will remain both affordable and extremely easy to use.

The beta testing program for the multi-site edition is due to open in mid-April.  We only have limited space available so if you’re interested, sign up now so we can reserve a place for you!

Tembria Server Monitor Version 5.3.4 Released

Monday, March 9th, 2009

With a bit of exhaustion we’re proud to announce the release of Tembria Server Monitor v5.3.4.  Although it’s only a small bump in the version number there’s a lot of great new functionality in this release.

The big new addition is our set of event monitors for VMware ESX, ESXi and VMware Server.  These new event monitors let you keep track of both host-level and guest-level metrics for your VMware installations.  You get both alerts about critical conditions and graphs for long term pattern tracking.

Also new are many new options in our SNMP Trap Event Monitor.  It has improved OID translation, new reverse-look up abilities and new formatting options.

Our workhorse, the File Event Monitor, can now remember previous positions when doing file content scans which makes it an even better solution for monitoring log files that are updated continuously.

There’s all that plus the usual set of fixes for reported issues (see the version history for the complete details).  Our thanks go out to everyone who helped during the beta testing!

VMware Monitoring Beta Closed

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

We’ve wrapped up the beta testing for our new VMware monitoring features and would like to say thanks to all of the people who sent in such great feedback and suggestions.

We’re now polishing things up for an official release in about two weeks.  The new event monitors support VMware ESX, VMware ESXi and VMware Server.  The offer a wide range of options for monitoring both host-level metrics and guest-level metrics.

When they are released they will be available as an add-on for our Enterprise Edition.  Pricing for the add-on has not yet been determined but as always it will be affordable.

Thanks again for all the great feedback!  We’ve put a lot of work into these new event monitors and it looks like the result is going to be a great new way for people to keep close watch on their VMware installations.
