Tembria Not Affected by Microsoft Security Advisory

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Microsoft issued a security advisory yesterday for an issue that potentially affects all software products developed using Microsoft’s C++ development tools.  It’s serious issue that could lead to remote code execution.

Tembria Server Monitor is developed using C++ but we are happy to confirm that our software is not affected by this issue as we do not use any of the API calls that are vulnerable to the newly discovered attack.

Most commercial applications are still developed using C++ and as a result we would like to advise you to contact the vendors of the applications that you use to confirm that they are not affected, especially for any application that can be accessed externally through a web-based user interface or any other means.

Beta Testing Open for v5.5

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

We’re very pleased to announce that the first beta release of Tembria Server Monitor v5.5 has been released to everyone on our beta testers list and we’re already getting a lot of great feedback.  This new release includes many new features as well as an entirely new multi-site monitoring mode that lets you monitor and manage devices at multiple remote sites all from one master console.

If you would like to participate in the beta testing, drop us a note at support@tembria.com.  We have slots available and the beta testing is open to both customers and those who are evaluating our software.

If you are already using the beta and have sent in comments, we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.  We have had a lot of responses and we’re in the process of reviewing them now.
