Distributed Network Monitoring
Monitoring remote systems presents challenges. You need full access to the systems but security requirements make that impossible over the Internet. You can roll out a VPN solution but they can be costly and complicated. Tembria Multi-Site Monitor addresses these challenges by providing a distributed monitoring system that is easy to deploy and works within your existing security environment. How Does Multi-Site Monitoring Work?
First you install the Tembria Multi-Site Monitor console at your headquarters.
You open up one port at headquarters and set your firewall rules to permit
HTTPS/SSL over that port.
Next, you install the remote monitoring node at your remote sites. You only need to install one monitoring node at each remote site. Each node can monitor multiple machines at a site. During installation you give the remote node the address of the master console running at your headquarters. The remote node calls home to headquarters and automatically appears in the monitoring console.
From that point on you manage everything from the master console. You can add new network devices for remote sites, change your monitoring configuration, generate reports and view dashboards all from the master console. Each time a remote node calls home it submits monitoring results, picks up any waiting changes and gets back to work. Everything is done from the master console and you never have to access the remote nodes again!
