Tembria Server Monitor - Monitoring Through VPNsScenario Summary: Tembria Server Monitor is used to monitor servers both at headquarters and at branch locations connected by Virtual Private Networks (VPN). Scenario 5: Monitoring Machines at Branch Locations through VPN A customer needed to monitor not only machines at headquarters but also at three branch locations in other cities. Each branch had a connection to the main office using VPN. Tembria Server Monitor was installed at each of the branch locations and at the head office. Two of the branch locations were sales offices and had no local network administrator. The administrator at the main office installed Tembria Server Monitor at these two offices (connecting by Remote Desktop to perform the installation). The administrator then used the console software on his PC to connect to the monitoring service at each of the two locations. Event monitors specific to the requirements at each location were added and notifications were set to be delivered by e-mail to the main office for most events. For extremely critical events, notifications were set to call administrators at the head office on their cell phones. The third branch office was larger than the other two and had a local network administrator. Event monitors were added for local monitoring requirements. Notifications were set to send e-mail to both the administrator at the branch office and the administrators at the main office as well so they could respond if the branch administrator was unavailable.
