Questions about Notifications
What happens if I configure e-mail notifications but my e-mail server is down? You can configure multiple e-mail servers and Tembria Server Monitor will try each of them in order until it can successfully send the notification. If you need notification in the event of total network failures you might consider using voice notifications.
What are voice notifications?Voice notifications use a standard voice modem to call you on your cell phone or other phone number and play a sound. For critical events such as your main internet connections being down, voice notifications provide a direct way to get in with system administrators.
What are SMS notifications?SMS notifications use an SMS modem to send text messages over the cellular network of your carrier. This bypasses your network infrastructure so the alerts get through even in the event of a major network failure.
What if I want to send e-mail and start a cup of coffee brewing every time something goes wrong?Assuming you have a network-aware coffee maker, you can use our script notifications to do this and perform all kinds of custom notification actions. Using industry standard VBScript, JavaScript or Perl Script you can create notifications that perform exactly the actions you need. If you need assistance creating custom notifications we're happy to help out however we can.
Licensing for Tembria Server Monitor
Do I need a license for every machine I want to monitor? No, you only need one license for each machine where you install our monitoring software. In most cases this is a single machine in your network infrastructure. From that one machine and with one license you can monitor many servers, workstations, routers and other network devices.
I need to run the monitoring service at two locations. What's my best option? You'll need two licenses, one for each place that you run the monitoring service. Two single licenses are more affordable than a site license. Another option you might consider is to use Tembria Multi-Site Monitor instead.
I need to run the monitoring service at three or more locations. What's my best option?By the time you need three licenses, a Site license is more affordable. With a site license you can install anywhere in your organization without having to count licenses. With a site license you can even use our software at multiple corporate locations. Another option you might consider is to use Tembria Multi-Site Monitor instead.
I want to use your software to provide monitor services to my clients. Can I do that? Not with Tembria Server Monitor but Tembria Multi-Site Monitor is designed exactly for providing monitor services to your clients.
Licensing for Tembria Multi-Site Monitor
How does the licensing work for Tembria Multi-Site Monitor work?First you should determine how many systems you need to monitor. This is the total number of systems across all the sites you plan to monitor. For example, if you have 4 sites with 50 systems to monitor at each site then that makes for 200 systems and our Multi-Site 250 edition is the best fit.
What if need to add more systems later? If you need to move up to a higher edition, you just pay the difference in cost.
I need to monitor just one system at fifty different sites. Which edition do I need? Our Multi-Site 50 edition is perfect fit. As with all our editions it does not matter how the systems are distributed. For example with a Multi-Site 50 license you can monitor 1 system at 50 different sites, 10 systems at 5 sites, 20 systems at one site and 30 systems at another, or any other combination.
Which monitoring features are included in Tembria Multi-Site Monitor?Tembria Multi-Site Monitor includes our complete set of monitoring features which includes all the features and functionality found in the Enterprise Edition of Tembria Server Monitor.
