rogue machine event monitor Description When configuring the event monitor, use the Test Now button to see a list of the machines that the event monitor has detected. You can then mark these machines as known machines. You can also use the Known Machines button to edit the list of known machines. When the event monitor runs it will scan the network and if one or more machines are detected that are not in the list of known machines, a notification will be triggered. You can select to check the Network Neighborhood for rogue machines. This is a good way to detect Windows machines that have been added to the network without your knowledge. You can also specify one or more ranges of IP addresses to be scanned for rogue machines. Note: This event monitor provides a handy way to watch for the addition of new machines however it does not consist of or replace the necessity for a proper security policy and security measures. Advanced techniques can be used to connect to the network in such a way that the event monitor may not be able to detect the new machines. table of contents |
