drive space event monitor
Description
The drive space monitor watches a specified drive for conditions related to the amount of space available on the drive.

Use UNC notation to specify the drive to monitor. The value [devicename] is required and will be replaced when the event monitor runs with the name of the network device(s) assigned to the event monitor.

Note that the drive space monitor checks the space available on the entire drive that the UNC path refers to. So, for example, if you specify a UNC path such as "\\[devicename]\c$\myfolder" the space available on the entire C: drive will be monitored.

With the drive space monitor you can specify to warn if the amount of space available drops below a specified threshold measure in size or as a percentage of total drive space. You can also specify to warn if the amount of space exceeds a specified value.

Usage Tips
Running out of disk space is one of the most severe conditions that can occur on a server or workstation. It can cause unpredictable behaviour and access violations.

Setting up drive space event monitors to run continually on critical servers is a good way to detect low drive space conditions before they become emergencies.

The option to warn when more than a specified amount of space becomes available is used less frequently but, for example, can serve as a notification for when the required amount of drive space has been made available again.
