Adding Event Monitors
Definition of an Event Monitor
An event monitor is a process that runs and performs checks on server, workstation or any other network device. Event monitors run on a schedule that you choose. You can also select how you will be notified when something goes wrong. An event monitor can have its own set of notification options or by using a notification profile it can share notification settings with other event monitors.
Adding Event Monitors
Tembria Server Monitor includes many different kinds of event monitors. To add an event monitor, right-click on the "Event Monitors" item in the tree and select the option that reads "Add Event Monitor".
A list of all available event monitors will appear. Select the event monitor you want to use. A description of what it does will appear on the righthand side. It's often worthwhile to spend a bit of time browsing the event monitor list in order to learn more about many things Tembria Server Monitor can help you to monitor. Choose an event monitor and press the OK button to add it.
The event monitor's settings page will now be displayed. The list of settings available will depend on the type of event monitor that you selected. For example, a Ping event monitor will let you select response time thresholds whereas a Drive Space event monitor will let you choose available space thresholds. Help for each specific event monitor types is available below in this document. All event monitor share some settings and those are covered in the next few sections of this document.
