Event Monitor Dependency Settings
Dependencies allow event monitors to control the actions other event monitors. Let's say you have two event monitors. One is a Ping event monitor that checks your servers on a frequent basis to make sure they are up and running, and the second is a Drive Space monitor. If a machine can't be pinged you may want to skip the drive space check because you know it will lead to a redundant notification. So you can set the Drive Space event monitor to depend on the Ping event monitor and then Tembria Server Monitor will not send out the drive space check if the ping event monitor is in a failed state.
The two matching types control how the dependency works. When matching the event monitor only, the second event monitor will not run if the first event monitor is in an error state for any reason. When matching the event monitor and device, the second event monitor will not run checks for devices that are in an error state in the first event monitor but will run checks for devices that are in a success state in the first event monitor.
