http event monitor Description The HTTP event monitor helps you to watch the web servers that you are responsible for. You can use the HTTP event monitor to ensure that a web site is accessible and that it successfully serves selected pages. You can also check to see if a page on the web site contains or does not contains a specified text value. Usage Tips Apart from monitoring the accessibility of the web site, it is also important to watch for other conditions. For example, ensuring that the site returns the 200 (success) status code is important. A site will return a 404 (page not found) status code in the severe case where the specified page cannot be found. More importantly, for sites with high levels of traffic, other codes indicating that the server timed out while trying to serve up a page or encountered an internal error can be indications that the peak load on the system is surpassing its capacity and more resources are required. table of contents |
