microsoft sql server event monitor Description The Microsoft SQL Server event monitor helps you to monitor the condition of database servers running SQL Server. It can connect to the server, run SQL commands and optionally warn based on the results of the query. It can also monitor the sizes of transaction log files which if not monitored and maintained can cause the database to become unavailable. Actions and Warnings Selecting the first option in the list of actions and "warn if" conditions will notify you if the event monitor could not connect to the database. The second option in the list allows you to run a SQL statement and offers many ways to customize how it works. Use the Settings button to access the additional configuration options. In the dialog that appears you can specify the database to connect to on the server and a SQL statement to run. Other option include the ability to show a number of the result rows returned by the query or to warn if a specified text value is found in the results. table of contents |
